It is official! After much speculation, The Clone Wars spinoff series The Bad Batch is officially going to be released in 2021.
The Bad Batch, also known as Clone Force 99, was a group of mutated clones that first appeared in season 7 of The Clone Wars. The group originally consisted of four clones: Hunter, Tech, Crosshair, and Wrecker, all with different specialities and personalities.
From what we know, this series does take place after Order 66, and fans are curious about whether they in fact did execute Order 66 and if not, whether they removed their inhibitor chips, and also whether they joined the Empire or not. There have been many unanswered questions for this dynamic group that will be answered with this new upcoming spinoff series.
There is no official release date except that it will be released in 2021 and will be released on Disney+ with Dave Filoni returning as an executive producer.
There were many rumors about whether this show would happen or not, but it is great to see it finally be officially announced. Fans were very supportive of this arc in Season 7, and many developed a strong liking toward these characters.
It will be interesting to see if we see other Clone Wars characters within this series and whether or not they stick to the same animation as that series. In due time we will certainly learn more, but until then may the force be with you all.
