After many rumors regarding what was titled “Project Maverick,” we now have a very huge lead onto what’s to come for the future of Star Wars gaming.
We first heard of Project Maverick on March 4 from a teaser on the PSN store hinting at a future Star Wars game focusing on aerial and space combat. However, today it was leaked that Star Wars: Squadrons may be the official title for this project.
This game title was accidentally leaked on the Xbox Store website earlier today, and according to a recent tweet by EA Star Wars, there will be an upcoming trailer on June 15 at 8:00 a.m PST.
The released artwork for Star Wars: Squadrons consisting of Y-Wings, A-Wings, U-Wings, and X-Wings. Not only that, but this detailed leak image shows an Imperial Star Destroyer, multiple TIE Fighters, a TIE Interceptor, a TIE Bomber, and even a TIE Reaper. On a larger scale, we also see a Rebel pilot as well as a TIE pilot.
Based on this information, this upcoming game seems to primarily focus on space battles and piloting in combat. Whether this is multiplayer, single-player, or both is still information we have yet to learn. But after seeing the success in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the anticipating release of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, this is a very exciting time to get involved in the gaming world of Star Wars.
Not only with the upcoming trailer releasing on June 15, but with the EA Play event taking place on June 18, it is expected for EA to provide further information on this upcoming game as well as details such as the release date.
Star Wars: Squadrons is expected to release on the main platforms including Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
